I have keenly followed Kalyegira's profiling of Amin over the past few years and recently by the Daily Monitor in Kampala and was impressed by his research and indepth analysis. I have however taken interest in the downfall of Prof. Lule and the factors attributed for his downfall. It appears that the attempts to re-write the history of Uganda have gained ernomous strengths. While power struggles within the Front could have ernomously resulted into his overthrow, the fear of a muganda president of Uganda was a crucial factor that Kalyegira and many other historians have left out.

Cabinet reshuffle: Nepotism and corruption E-mail

I was among those not surprised by the recent cabinet reshuffle directing my energies not to the choices made by Museveni but rather to the challenges they face as his new teammates. It is also usually difficult for a coach of his record to adjust to changes that he has to contend with. The aging of old players notwithstanding and the requirement to protect the league tittle can be considered some of the most driving forces but never the attractiveness of the game thus relegating the needs of the fans whose seasonal tickets every 5 years ensure the coaches position at the helm.

A cover up for the Uganda Government's lack of interest in the Juba peace talks.

In January 1986, the NRA Bandits took over power from the okello regime in a dishonoured Nairobi Peace Agreement. The culprits who emerged the winners and therefore Uganda's new rulers thus sent a dangerous precedent in the history of peace and conflict resolution in this Uganda. It was the mistrust of the new rulers and the wave of untold suffering unleashed on the people of northern Uganda that the LRA rebellion found roots. Facts have revealed that in June 1986 former UPDA forces were recalled , imprisoned, tortured and some killed under the Command of David Tinyefunza then Sub-Commander to Reuben Ikondere.
